Singled Out: Jared James Nichols' Let You Go
. The main guitar hook for the first single "Let You Go" off of our new EP " Old Glory & The Wild Revival" was actually written a few years back on an old acoustic guitar. At the time, I was listening a lot to old recordings by bluesman Jimmy Reed along with the classic rock group FREE. Its a tip of the hat to a certain slinky, swagger groove I've always admired. The theme and lyrics of the song send the message about finding a true love and trying to express the emotion and feeling that brings along with the trials that every relationship has. The vocal delivery is very honest, while the verse lyrics are off the cuff, the chorus lyric sums up the attitude of the whole song. "I don't wanna let you down, I don't wanna let you go, even if it takes all my life.." These lines struck a chord in me while the song developed into what it is on the recording. Besides vocally, I also try and work out all the emotions I feel through my guitar, and deliver the true expression of what the song represents. From low moans and cries, to moments of pure joy, I try to touch on all emotions. This song is a favorite of mine as it comes across very powerful when we play it live as well. It starts to take on a life of it own.. Hearing is believing.
