Singled Out: SoapGirls' 'Lie to Me' and 'Looking for Love'
. The song "Looking For Love" came from our first hand experience growing up watching our mom make bad choices in men. She suffered a bad childhood and spent most of her life searching for love and ended up with broken bones, a broken heart and a lot worse. As often happens when we're just jamming around with our guitars we started talking about life and how cruel it can be. Like tears that would not be held back the song just came out. It felt really good for us to create something beautiful out of such dark ugliness.Looking for love was the first song we recorded when we arrived in New York; we remember being very excited but also extremely jet lagged as it was literally a 24hr travel. 4 days after arriving in NY we hit the studio and in a nutshell it was probably the most bizarre and under the hardest circumstances we've ever recorded in. Needless to say the experience of it all has given us loads of new material to work with. Thank you in advance for downloading our single and we hope it spreads like wildfire!! The song "Lie To Me" describes how hard letting go of someone you love really is, even if they no longer reciprocate your love. It's the feeling that you'd rather have someone lie about their feelings for you as opposed to having to confront and deal with the fact that it's over. The song is an emotional one and has a fair bit of anger hence the strong lean toward rock. We flew in from South Africa to America to record "Lie to Me" at Mercy Studios in East Manhattan. During the rare breaks we got to meet some cool characters, and because of the edginess of "Lie to Me," we got into our leather and wore our most uncomfortable heels so that we would be genuinely pissed off while recording. This also helped better convey some of the pain we were going through. We are preparing to fly back to NY to shoot the music video in the upcoming weeks so keep your eyes and ears open as we promise not to disappoint!! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!
