(Radio.com) Fashion-wise, the VMAs have stepped it up a notch in the last few years. In a major change from the past, we're now seeing stars decked out in high-end designer duds, as well as more and more female attendees doing a quick change from the red carpet to their show wear — a move usually reserved for presenters at big shows like the Oscars.

Several singers made big splashes on this year's red carpet. Here's a look at who wore what from the world of high fashion.

One of the evening's most talked-about looks was Taylor Swift in Hervé Leger by Max Azria — although the talk was mostly about her Marilyn Monroe-esque hair as opposed to the cut-down-to-there bandage dress.

The biggest red carpet show-stopper was Rita Ora, in an Alexandre Vauthier dress with a feather train that required three people to move it. Ellie Goulding went head to toe nude, in a studded, sheer dress with suede Brian Atwood pumps. more including photos
