New Music May Keep Lauryn Hill Out Of Prison
. During a court hearing on Monday, Hill was given two weeks to pay $504,000 in back taxes. The singer entered a guilty plea last year to failing to pay federal taxes on $1.8 million that she earned between 2005 and 2007. NJ.com reports that during Monday's court hearing Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra Moser revealed that singer had signed a new record deal with Sony where she would earn $1 million for recording five new songs. She reportedly would make more for an entire new album. That money would allow her to pay the back taxes by the deadline but she reportedly still has to finish writing and then record the new songs.
