(Classic Rock) Mike Peters hoax movie Vinyl has been inspired by how he took revenge on the music industry after struggling to re-enter the business.In 2004 the Alarm and now Big Country frontman struggled to gain attention from the mainstream media, who weren't interested in "ageing rockers." So he had Welsh outfit the Wayriders mime to his track 45RPM and called the band 'The Poppy Fields.' The result was UK chart success – leading to the inevitable discovery of the truth.
The hoax has inspired Vinyl, featuring Quadrophenia star Phil Daniels alongside Robin Hood actor Keith Allen. It also includes rising star Jamie Blackley. Read more and watch the promo clip here.
