Joe Jackson To Tribute Duke Ellington On Live TV Special

09/11/2012
.
Joe Jackson will be paying tribute to Duke Ellington along with performing some of his own hits in a live television event on AXS TV. They sent over these details:

As he kicks off his world tour this fall, Jackson's "Joe Jackson & The Bigger Band Live From the Count Basie Theatre, Featuring Special Guest Regina Carter" will broadcast LIVE from the historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey, on Tuesday, September 25th. Jackson recently released The Duke, his salute to Duke Ellington, demonstrating the timeless brilliance of his compositions while showcasing Jackson's skills as arranger, instrumentalist and singer.

This live performance follows Jackson's #1 album debut on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Album Chart and on the Billboard Current Jazz Album Chart. Fans won't want to miss the iconoclastic English singer/composer/arranger/keyboardist and five-time Grammy nominee interpreting Ellington classics, interspersing melodic and rhythmic elements of various compositions in a manner that's consistent with Ellington's own freewheeling approach.
