(Gibson) Paul McCartney will receive France's highest cultural distinction this Saturday (Sept. 8), when he's presented with the Legion of Honor medal in a gala ceremony.The former Beatle will be given the rank of officer, which is the Legion's middle grade. As reported by The Guardian, French President Francois Hollande will present the medal to McCartney, who will become the first British musician to be awarded the distinction.
Previous recipients include Ravi Shankar, Clint Eastwood, J.K. Rowling and Liza Minnelli. In recent years, McCartney has been the recipient of several high-profile honors. more on this story
