Sammy Hagar No Longer Plays Music For A Living

10/29/2012
.
(hennemusic) Sammy Hagar celebrated his 65th birthday a few weeks ago with his annual series of Birthday Bash concerts at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Apart from his music ventures Sammy has his chains of restaurants and bars, as well as his new Beach Bar Rum drink. Hagar spoke with CNBC about some of these projects, as well as his take on the changes in the music business.

"I sold almost a hundred million records in all my incarnations and made a lot of money - enough to put me in all these other businesses and make me secure for the rest of my life, so I can't complain about what's going on," explains Sammy. "I like playing music for free. I think it should take the business out of it, so now you gotta reinvent yourself."

"I'm fortunate that I have other ways to make a living. I no longer play music for a living," he continues. "I got my band, my crew, I pay everybody else, but I don't look for it for my income so, therefore. I don't have to do it." Watch the interview here.
