This song came into being after Tyler [Villard, guitar] had been reading a bunch of conspiracy theory books, most notable Behold A Pale Horse by William Cooper and a few others about Nikola Tesla.

We had let go of our previous drummer and had some down time to write new material. This spooky song was the best of that period. We used to play it electric with a long psych-jam at the end but that version never blew us away. It didn't seem to fit the subject matter which was the story of Tesla and his seizure driven visions of pure math and its relationship to electricity and the energy fields around us. Also, his vision of giving the world the gift of free wireless energy, only to be ruined by Edison and Westinghouse's desire for profit and monopoly control over the whole of the emerging national electric infrastructure.

On the last day of tracking Wyt Deth we decided that the B-side of the LP needed a short song because the sum of what we had was too long (90% of our songs are 7minutes +) to get a good sounding cut on the master wax. So Justin [Sherrell, drums] and Tyler recorded this one on two rickety old acoustic guitars and one room mic. In addition to playing drums Justin is a great guitar player. Then I added some organs from our piece of sh*t 80's Yamaha keyboard missing all its knobs that we've been lugging around from rehearsal space to space for years. It finally pulled its weight.

'Nikola' was a good reminder of how you never know which song is going to reach people. Upon starting the record we had no desire to lay that one down and then it ended up being the favorite track in a lot of the reviews the album got. We practiced and prepared for months for the recording, and having a song that wasn't previously considered be spontaneously added gave the Wyt Deth an extra organic vibe that might have been missing a little.
