Antidote To Release First New Album in 21 Years

10/12/2012
.
Bridge Nine Records have set a November 13th release date for the first new Antidote album in 21 years, No Peace In Our Time.

The album was produced by Antidote and mastered by the legendary Howie Weinberg, and the 10-song album includes "Conspiracy Of None", "The Hate Machine", "Don't Blame Me", "Unaffected", and the Black Flag classic "Rise Above" (featuring Agnostic Front's Roger Miret).

Antidote vocalist Drew Stone commented, "We finally made the hard as f**k old school back to basics record that we always wanted to make."

"To honor the 30th year of New York hardcore we have decided to take a trip back to the Old School", said Robb Nunzio, guitarist and founding member of NY's Antidote.

Antidote formed in the depths of New York City in the early 1980's when guitarist Robb Nunzio decided to start a band. Nunzio reflected, "One day I heard Black Flag and things just changed for me. I started Antidote with my buddy Arthur from Queens on drums who just left The Misfits and Tom Victor (Prong, Danzig) played bass in the beginning. Louie, our first singer, was a roadie for the Bad Brains. They gave us our first breaks." The Thou Shalt Not Kill 7 inch came out in the summer of 1983 and at the time, no one had heard NYHC sound so clear and well-produced. "As fate would have it, the original lineup split up and I decided on the strength of the music to keep going with my friend and High & The Mighty singer Drew Stone on vocals. We went on to perform the songs on Thou Shalt Not Kill and many others for eight years before calling it quits", Nunzio continued. Fast forward to 2008 and Antidote reunited to play the A7 reunion show in NYC, which was the first time they had been on stage together in over 15 years. Current Antidote vocalist Drew Stone commented, "We couldn't believe how many people packed the room to see us and as soon as we hit the first notes, the place exploded. Throughout the set everyone barked out the lyrics to the songs and the room was electric - it was intense and best of all it was a lot of fun." What started out as one 'reunion' with Nunzio, Stone and longtime bass player Zum led to the band getting bigger and better and reignited more interest in Antidote than ever. In 2010, Bridge Nine re-released Antidote's classic album Thou Shalt Not Kill and the band was part of the "Gallery East Reunion Show" with DYS, Jerry's Kids, FU's and Gang Green, which was documented as a part of the "xxx ALL AGES xxx" Boston Hardcore documentary.

Additionally, "xxx ALL AGES xxx" The Boston Hardcore Film will be screening in Los Angeles at the world renown Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Boulevard on November 9th (Fri.) and November 10th (Sat.) After the Saturday night screening there will be live show with DYS and Antidote (first West Coast show ever!) at The Key Club on The Sunset Strip. Tickets for both the film screenings and The Key Club show will go on sale soon. Stay tuned for more details.

In celebration of the new release there will be Antidote "Record Release / 30th anniversary shows" on both coasts:
