(Gibson) Typically, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, acts get inducted by people who fit into one of three categories. Either it's a younger artist who was influenced by the inductee (Metallica for Black Sabbath), an older musician with an appreciation for the "new guys" (Bruce Springsteen for U2) or a musical contemporary of the act (Eric Clapton and The Band).Things are going to be a little different this time around with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have never been ones for falling into one distinct category. They will be inducted into the Rock Hall by comedic superstar Chris Rock. The choice is not completely out of left field – Rock is good friends with the band and directed one of their videos. Regardless, Rock's speech is the odds-on favorite to be the funniest of all time.
Other presenters include Public Enemy's Chuck D (for the Beastie Boys), John Mellencamp (for Donovan), Bette Midler (for Laura Nyro) and Steven Van Zandt (for the Small Faces/Faces). Robbie Robertson will welcome producers Tom Dowd, Glyn Johns and Cosimo Matassa into the Hall, while Smokey Robinson will helm a tribute to legendary backing groups, including the Miracles.
There is no word yet on who will be inducting Guns N' Roses, just to add to the mystery surrounding which band members will appear and perform at the event. more on this story
