Tyrone Wells released his new album, "Where We Meet," this week and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about some of his favorite songs from the release. Today he tells us about the track "Freedom":Sometimes the best thing to do is to let go. Let go of my inhibitions. Let go of my pre-conceived notion. Let go of whatever holds me back. Let go of my money. This song was fun to write. I was listening to Simon & Garfunkel and digging the light hearted vibe of a lot of their stuff. I tried to capture some of that "feel-good thing" that they do so well. The result was this song. I knew I did something right when I started playing it out, because crowds would always really connect to it.
There's a lyric in the song that says "when you let it go, it'll come right back to you". The idea behind it is simple. We shouldn't hold on too tightly, especially if it's apparent that we should let something go. When we open up our hands and don't try to control everything, I think good things happen. The very thing we had to let go of, often will come back to us, sometimes in an awesome way that we least expect.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
