Anberlin frontman Stephen Christian will release a new album from his solo project Anchor & Braille on July 31st.Anchor & Braille was formed by Christian as a solo project in 2008. The new album, The Quiet Life, is the follow up to 2009's Felt and was written over the past three years.
Written wherever and whenever he could, The Quiet Life reflects the experiences of life as a nomadic musician and draws influence from the music Christian was personally listening to during the process.
Citing groups like Empire of the Sun and M83 as inspiration, The Quiet Life draws upon electronic elements, complex layers and lush orchestral arrangements.
The album's first single, "Goes Without Saying", an indie rock number pairing Christian's yearning vocals against backdrop of twinkling piano and soaring guitars.
The Quiet Life was recorded earlier this year in Peptalk Studio in Christian's current hometown of Nashville. Co-produced and engineered by keyboardist Kevin Dailey of the band Civil Twilight and Anchor & Braille guitarist Micah Tawlks, the album builds on the demos Christian has been working on for years. Though Christian has referred to the disc as a "patchwork record" for his sporadic process, The Quiet Life is a carefully constructed work demonstrating Christian's own love for music as well as his ability to draw from his surroundings and influences to create a unique, thoughtfully crafted musical work all his own.
In support of the album, Anchor & Braille will hit the road this summer beginning July 21st at the Evening Muse in Charlotte, NC and touring through August with stops in Philly, Washington and New York City amongst others.
