The Polyphonic Spree have announced their first North American tour dates in more than four years. The "You + Me" tour will see the band, whose membership currently numbers 21 musicians and choir members, return to the intimate venues that they started out on a decade ago.
The tour begins February 6 in Tulsa, followed by dates across the Southeast before returning home to Texas for shows in Houston, Austin and Dallas. See below for a list of confirmed dates; East and West Coast dates will follow in late winter and spring, with dates and cities to be announced.
The Polyphonic Spree's co-leaders, Tim DeLaughter and Julie Doyle, recently relaunched their record label, Good Records Recordings, as a singles label with an artist roster including DeLaughter's old band, Tripping Daisy, and his latest project, Preteen Zenith. Other artists who have released tracks on Good Records Recordings include New Fumes, Pilotdrift, Binary Sunrise and Sweet Lee Morrow. (New Fumes, the project of Spree and Flaming Lips touring member Daniel Huffman, will support the February tour dates.) Good Records Recordings released an initial round of tracks in November, including "Bullseye," The Polyphonic Spree's first new music since their 2007 album "The Fragile Army." The band initially released the song as an interactive iPad/iPhone app, available from the iTunes store.
