American Idol finalist Siobhan Magnus will digitally release her debut album "Moonbaby" on Sunday (January 15th 2012.)Siobhan is the only former Idol finalist (sixth place on season 9) to independently write, record and release an album of original songs, ten in all, along with one select cover track.
Since her early years, Siobhan followed her dream of becoming an outstanding vocalist, establishing her on-stage presence in countless school musical productions, theatrical productions and award winning choral competitions.
Siobhan began creating original music and writing lyrics while in high school, joining various local bands while searching for her own "voice". The American Idol experience brought Siobhan national attention and invaluable performance experience before an international audience in both the live arena and on television.
Since her return to Cape Cod following the 2010 Idol tour, Siobhan decided to focus more on writing original songs and developing her own sound. By the end of the year, along with new management and a book of ideas, a plan was formulated for 2011.
Early co-writing collaborations in Nashville yielded Siobhan's first four songs, which were recorded at the end of March 2011. "Beatrice Dream" was the first of the four songs to be released and was offered on iTunes in May. Siobhan returned to Nashville to write or record five more times during the year, while also finding time to perform her first full length concert at The Cape Cod Melody Tent in June. Following this concert, she focused on developing a band and her first "rock concert" concept, "Hallowe'en Dreams," which was presented for fans at Boston's Wilbur Theatre.
Written and produced in Nashville, "Moonbaby" is a collection of deeply honest and personal songs, recorded with top flight Nashville session musicians under the direction of Australian producer Michael Flanders and his team.
