(Gibson) Tom Jones has become the latest artist with whom Jack White has worked in his recent string of unusual collaborations. The veteran Welsh crooner, whose hits include "It's Not Unusual" and "Delilah," worked with White on a new version of Jones's 2002 track, "Jezebel," and on a cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Evil."The special one-off 7-inch single will be released as part of White's Third Man label's "Blue Series," which has pressed similar one-off discs for such unlikely artists as Insane Clown Posse and Stephen Colbert. A release date for the Tom Jones disc has not been announced, but White told Mojo the sessions went extremely well.
"[Jones] impressed the [expletive] out of everybody," White said. Meanwhile, White has also revealed that Third Man has reached an agreement with the blues label, Document Records, to reissue a number of that label's albums on high-quality vinyl. The first release will be a compilation album featuring early 20th century blues artists such as Charlie Patton and Blind Willie McTell. more on this story
