Sarah Darling has released her rendition of the Paul McCartney Beatles White Album classic "Blackbird" on iTunes. As heard in heavy rotation on SiriusXM's The Highway, Darling made the song her own with the help of legendary producer, and lead guitar player on the track, Dann Huff.
Proceeds from the charity-based compilation album, "Let Us In" Nashville - A Tribute To Linda McCartney, released in Nov. 2011 on Reviver Music, are benefiting The Women and Cancer Fund, a not-for-profit charity established in the memory of Linda McCartney.
According to Darling, "I wanted to join the 'Let Us In' campaign because I thought it was a great opportunity to give back. When I was asked to do this, I immediately wanted to do 'Blackbird.' I begged for 'Blackbird.' I just have always really loved that song so much." "Blackbird" enthusiasts will have even more to talk about when the music video for Darling's version of the song is released in the coming days.
When asked about Darling being the first artist on board the "Let Us In" campaign, CEO of Reviver Music, David Ross shared, "Sarah Darling was the first artist I approached and asked to be part of the "Let Us In" Nashville campaign back in the fall of 2010. Her version of "Blackbird" is beautiful. It is now being heard across the world and is exposing a whole new generation to a classic song."
Executive Producers of the "Let Us In" Nashville tribute album and campaign, David Ross and Dennis D'Amico, will also be releasing a concert DVD later this year which will feature live footage from the 2011 "Let Us In" benefit concert at Nashville's legendary Ryman Auditorium. The special event was hosted by actor/musician Jeff Daniels and featured performances from Sarah Darling, SHeDAISY, Steel Magnolia, Phil Vassar, Blue Sky Riders as well as other artists featured on the "Let Us In" Nashville album.
