(FCM) The Parlotones will release their fourth studio album, Journey Through the Shadows, on May 8th via Sovereign Entertainment USA. The new album was recorded in Johannesburg and Cape Town during the final months of 2011 and includes 12 brand new tracks.
"America dictates trends around the world," singer Kahn Morbee says. "If you're big there, the rest of the world listens. It has a ripple effect. We would be very proud to achieve success in the U.S. because very few artists from our country have managed it. I think for a long time, South Africans have had an inferiority complex in terms of our place in the world and our relative insignificance compared to the super powers. It would be nice to have a success story, especially in a nation that needs uplifting, and instill folks back home that 'can do' belief."
The Parlotones will also continue their generous philanthropy in their home country. In early March, all four members of the The Parlotones will be joining celebrities, government officials, civilians and media from 54 African countries to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in an effort to bring awareness to the Africa-UNiTE campaign raising global awareness to end violence against women and children in Africa.
Finally, the band has developed a first-of-its-kind interactive connection to its fans. The Parlotones Passport is an account which allows fans to earn points for interacting with the band – attending shows, shopping at their online store, supporting their charities, tweeting or Facebook posting about the band, etc. Participating fans will also receive a physical personalized souvenir passport that they use for special lines at The Parlotones shows. Fans will be able to spend their points on tickets, merchandise and access to special events via the new Parlotones mobile app that will be launching this spring.
