Avenged Sevenfold To Rock in Rio With Iron Maiden

12/10/2012
.
Avenged Sevenfold reprinted a short interview on their official site with Q1 where frontman M. Shadows confirms the band will take part in Rock In Rio and shares his excitement about sharing the stage with Iron Maiden and also says there is a possibility that they might put together some additional shows with Metallica and/or Iron Maiden.

When asked about playing with Iron Maiden, he said, "I love Iron Maiden. We've done some touring with them in Europe. We are part of that case that each one has its specific fan base, but there are many people who like both the bands, who have the passion for metal [and] like this kind of sound. [We] can't wait to be part of this festival. Luckily, I know the Brazilian fans of Iron Maiden like our music."

He was then asked about the possibility of playing additional shows in Brazil and responded, " We're talking to Metallica and Iron Maiden to know what they will do before and after the Rock in Rio. So, there's chance to take the fall and make at least two more shows. We are still seeing this …"

He was also asked "You've reached the top of the list of best selling albums in the United States. How is it to be popular without making pop music? " And he responded, "It is possible, and we are not the only example. Iron Maiden and Metallica are two of the greatest bands of all time and pass away from pop. Pantera was well on the charts and has one of the best selling albums of all time. You have to build a fan club, have to know to do a good job in the alternative scene and then know how to grow up. Pop music listeners will not buy our records. We just want to play heavy rock."
