(Gibson) British actor Gary Oldman, who once played punk icon Sid Vicious in a movie, will direct Jack White's webcast from Webster Hall in Manhattan on April 27. The New York Times reports that the show is part of the American Express Unstaged series."It just fell from the sky," Oldman said. "Occasionally you get calls and they just drop in. I didn't have to think very quickly about it. I just said, 'Yeah, that sounds very good.'"
It turns out that the actor is a musician in his own right. He told the Times: "I'm trained as a pianist, and along the way I've picked up the guitar and bass. And about five years ago my mother asked me what I'd like for Christmas, and I'd had enough socks and slippers, so I asked for a ukulele. It's such a beautiful little thing and has the sweetest sound. And also it's very portable. You can throw it in an overhead bin in an airplane. more on this story
