(Gibson) When Blink-182 announced they were going on an "indefinite hiatus" in 2005, amid rumors of increasing turmoil between bandmates, fans panicked. The guys of Blink-182 seemed dead set on the decision, which abruptly ended a 13-year enterprise and slayed a rock group that had sold more than 20 million albums. Tom DeLonge, the guitarist behind Blink, went to work with his own band, Angels & Airwaves, while bass player Mark Hoppus started dabbling in production and drummer Travis Barker worked on a variety of projects, both musical and those of the reality TV kind.Thankfully, Blink-182 patched things up in 2010, and they dropped their latest album, Neighborhoods, this week (September 27). In the following prime quotes, DeLonge talks about Blink-182's breakup, their subsequent reunion and his personal fight with skin cancer. On the breakup of Blink-182 in 2005, as told to the Chicago Tribune in 2010: "My biggest failure was the breakup of Blink. That was a failure of friendships, businesses and communications. In our hearts, we thought that was forever and gone. What's funny is, at the time, I looked at it as a triumph. The fact that I was able to make a decision so detrimental to myself and identity and start fresh was pretty victorious." A lot more here
