(Gibson) INXS recently posted a clip of a new song with the band's new singer but neglected to say who he was – only that he was Irish, which led to speculation about Bono and Rea Garvey. The Australian band have now revealed that their new singer is Ciaran Gribbin, according to Rolling Stone.Gribbin's resume includes writing the Madonna single "Celebration" and singing backing vocals on Snow Patrol's "Eyes Open." Ciaran has already recorded some demos with INXS and will front the band during a tour in November. He replaces J.D. Fortune (who sang with the band after winning the reality competition Rock Star: INXS). Original singer Michael Hutchence died in 1997.
"A baptism of fire is the best way to describe the live shows, I think," Gribbin told Billboard. "In a way I'm slightly nervous, and in another way I'm unbelievably excited. It's a wonderful, proud moment for me. It's a real feeling of achievement to have a band of INXS' stature believe in me as a performer and a singer. It's genuine dream-come-true, fairy-tale stuff for me. I'm still waking up in the morning here in Australia going, 'How did I get here?'" more on this story
