(GEE) Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse "The Devil" Hughes is taking his solo band Boots Electric on the road for some US dates including a stop at the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans, LA.After creating three albums of dirty and danceable garage rock anthems, Honkey Kong is his first solo outing, out now on Dangerbird Records. Honkey Kong was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode) and co-written with legendary keyboardist Money Mark, best known for his many collaborations with the Beastie Boys.
The album is not short on guest appearances; Brody Dalle of The Distillers, Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones, Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen and Juliette Lewis add fire to Boots' flair.
On the debut, Boots brings the funk like never before. Honkey Kong is a sexy and smooth sonic cocktail of swaggering keyboards, funkified beats, sly bass lines, and Boots' inimitable coitus-inducing croon. After just one listen, you'll want to shake your hips, you'll want to sing along, and you'll definitely want to get down and dirty.
