(CMP) A unique group of musicians -- and Queen fans -- will come together to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of Freddie Mercury's passing with The Show Must Go On -- a live performance of the music of Queen -- on November 9th at The Roxy Theatre. All proceeds from the concert and memorabilia auction will be donated to AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), to help combat the disease that took Freddie from this world.
In November 1991, the world mourned music legend Freddie Mercury, who died of complications resulting from AIDS. As lead singer, songwriter and the heart of Queen, Freddie's legacy continues to inspire generations of fans.
Brendon Small (Dethklok/Adult Swim's Metalocalypse), Brendan McCreary (Young Beautiful in a Hurry), and Bear McCreary (The Walking Dead/Battlestar Galactica) have put together an all-star line-up, with surprise guests, to honor Freddie's legacy.
"Queen is my favorite band on earth," said Brendon Small. "If I hadn't heard the Flash Gordon theme at the age of 7, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be in show business. I'm excited to play some of my favorite songs and share the stage with some of the best musicians in the industry!"
"Queen was a rock band with truly orchestral sensibilities," added Bear McCreary. "Their melodies, harmonies and passion for lyrical storytelling place their songs amongst the most essential ever written."
Brendan McCreary agrees, "Freddie was less a man, and more like a fallen angel. And the art Queen created, was less like music, and more like a good friend who's stuck with you through all the years."
