Playing For Change Take On Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground

09/09/2011
.
Playing For Change have debut a new music video for their version of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" which is featured on the new CD/DVD PFC2: Songs Around The World (Hear Music/Concord Music Group).

Playing For Change presents another incomparable artist collaboration in "Higher Ground," which again unites the soulful sounds of musicians from across the globe. The electric guitars of Tinariwen's Ibrahim Ag Alhabib and Eyadou Ag Leche and Reggie McBride's bass meet the kora of Toumani Diabate to provide the sinuous interlocking rhythms that lift this performance to higher ground. Drummers and percussionists from Mali, Senegal, Brazil, Columbia and Jamaica add intricate, interlocking beats to support the soulful lead vocals of the Netherlands' Clarence Bekker.

"The guitarist and bass player from Tinariwen, a band of Tuareg musicians from the deserts of Northern Mali, provide the driving pulse for this song on twin electric guitars, supported by Reggie McBride on bass," says Playing For Change founder Mark Johnson. Check out the video here
