(Gibson) Seymour Duncan, the guitarist and luthier behind the pickups that bear his name, recently wrote Gibson.com to let us know about a new track he recorded. With the assistance of a Wine Red Tal Farlow guitar, Duncan wrote and recorded a tribute to Gibson L-5 legend Wes Montgomery, titled "SeyWes." "I don't use a pick and enjoyed using my thumb and index finger to do the picking," Duncan wrote. "I wrote the song and called it 'SeyWes' as my tribute to Wes because of his influence and great playing technique also using his thumb and index fingers... I'm a blues player and wanted to try a smoother style of playing..."
Duncan said his engineer, Doug Scott, played keyboards on the track and produced it. In addition, Duncan has released his first solo CD, which he tells us features his Gibson SG Standard extensively. "Listen to the end of 'Whipped Cream' and you hear my Eric Clapton influence also using my SG for the solos," he wrote. The album is available on iTunes. Check out the new song here
