Today GDP tells us about his latest singled "All My Friends Are On Meds" (featuring Pistol) from his brand new album "Useless Eaters". Here is the story: This was a remix to a song called "Raining in my Head" off my "Magic Bullet Cassette". It was the first beat I ever heard from Aoi who went on to
produce 3/ 4 of my latest "Useless Eaters" and I immediately fell in love with it. I wrote the original about a year and a half ago and decided I wanted seconds. Pistol and I used the lyrics from the original version as the blueprint for the remix.
If you compare all 3 verses (OG version, Pistol's and my new one) you'll get the idea. I told Aoi to flip the instrumental and we turned it into the refrain in
which my brethrend Shah Sultan drops some serious gems. Pistol recorded that right on my front porch as seen in the music video taken from a photo shoot that my boy Tone made happen at his studio in Hoboken (photobytone.com).
We got the zoot suits from some tacky store in Newark that was having a going out of business sale and rented the casket from a costume shop in New York. When we were pulling the casket out of the van to bring into Tone's place, my good pal Sam No Dice pulled up in a car looking to cash a check a few buildings away so he and a few of his buddies joined us for the photo shoot. Small world.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video right here!
