Neil Diamond Almost Stared In Taxi Driver

(Gibson) Neil Diamond has sold in excess of 125 million albums over the past 40-something years, but now the singer-songwriter has revealed that he could have pursued more of an acting career. According to an interview with the Daily Mail, Diamond was considered for the Robert De Niro role in Taxi Driver. "I wasn't actually offered the role," he said. "But I was considered for it for a whole minute before they signed Robert De Niro. I knew the producer and he must have thought I looked like that type of character – you know, sullen and crazy. "But I was back on the road by then and had no time to do anything. Finally, De Niro signed and did a great job." But that's not all of it.
