(The Metal Den) TMD has obtained historic live audio of Metallica performing at The Stone in San Francisco, California on September 18, 1982. It is late bassist Cliff Burton's debut gig with the future rock n roll hall of fame act and undoubtedly the passion can be heard from the first frenetic note played by the young, rowdy lineup. Widely considered the greatest metal bassist of them all, Cliff Burton would ultimately be killed in a freak bus accident on September 27, 1986. Check it out [Update] We received this update from the Met Club. It appears that The Metal Den was incorrect, this was not Cliff's first show with the band. The Met Club told us "While the date of this recording is correct, Cliff Burton was not yet a member of Metallica. Cliff's first show with Metallica was on March 5, 1983 (read here). The recording you're reporting on features Ron McGovney on bass.
