(Gibson) The Beastie Boys are speaking out about the recording of their new full-length, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, and those two years the band waited to release the album following Adam "MCA" Yauch's diagnosis with cancer of the salivary gland."That sent us all reeling," Mike Diamond (a.k.a. Mike D) told Rolling Stone, "both in terms of having your good friend and your bandmate diagnosed with cancer, and then also, oh, so our record isn't coming out. We'll just put this on hold and see where we're at in six months. And then 12 months."
At least one good thing came from the delay: Taking a break from the album made the Beasties realize they weren't satisfied with the sound. They remixed the whole release with MC Solaar producer Philippe Zdar, and ultimately, Diamond said, "We got to make a much better-sounding record." more on this story
