Ferlin Husky RIP

.
(Gibson) Country and pop crooner Ferlin Husky died Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 85. Having suffered from heart problems for the past few decades – beginning with heart surgery in 1977 – Husky succumbed to congestive heart failure. A statement on his website reads, "Ferlin passed away today in the Critical Care unit of a Nashville-area hospital where he had been under intensive care for several days. Truly one of the greats of country music, and a great individual who helped foster the careers of many others, we will miss our friend greatly." Born in 1925 in rural Missouri, Husky got his start as a radio DJ and honky tonk singer, launching a seven-decade-long career as a country music star with a comic flair. Ferlin was one of the first country singers to earn a star along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was inducted last year into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
