Rolling Stones Photographer Goes On The Record

(Rock AAA) Legendary rock photographer Gered Mankowitz admits he has enjoyed a rollercoaster relationship with the Rolling Stones but he is hoping to heal old wounds and reignite former friendships with the band next week.Mankowitz spent two years as the Stones' personal snapper in the 1960s before parting ways. Then a reunion in the 1980s quickly descended from heaven into hell but Mankowitz is eyeing the chance to catch up with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman next week when all three could meet at a memorial concert in London. "I started working with the Rolling Stones in early 1965 and continued to do so until 1967 when the band split with their manager Andrew Oldham – I was seen as one of Andrew's team," He told RockAAA. "Looking back now and it was quite clear that in 1965 the band were at the peak of their initial success and Satisfaction had just been released. They were just phenomenal and globally they were second only to the Beatles but over here they were probably on a par with them. more on this story
