(Gibson) Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has said that his band's new album, Angles, was influenced by quite a few bands, including R.E.M. and Boston. The singer went on to credit Clarence Clemons and Jackson Browne's 1985 duet "You're a Friend of Mine" as the inspiration for The Strokes new single, "Under Cover of Darkness," according to NME.com."I guess it's about someone who works in the military and has a girlfriend," Casablancas said about "Darkness." "It's cheesy, I guess, but it's about having to leave a loved one behind. I weirdly like the bridge and the chorus of that Clarence Clemons song." Casablancas said that the Clemons/Browne song has the "vibe we were going for," before admitting, "I shouldn't confess to these things!" more on this story
