(hennemusic) Robert Plant is playing the Montreal International Jazz Festival this Friday evening and, beyond the show itself, the music icon will be honored by event organizers.The Montreal Gazette reports Plant will be presented with the festival's Spirit Award during his June 24 concert at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The award, launched in 2006, recognizes "a popular artist's extraordinary contribution to the musical world." Plant – who makes his festival debut this year - will accept the prize from festival co-founder Andre Menard during his 7 p.m. concert. more on this story
