The Wandas Go Retro For New Album

06/09/2011
.
(Big Hassle) The Wandas have announced the August 30th release of their new self-titled album.

The band approached this collection of road-tested songs with a retro recording process, determined to bring back the warmth and natural ambient feel of 60's and 70's recordings.

Surrounding themselves with rich instruments such as a Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer Electric Piano, Hammond B3 Organ and analog delay pedals, the band recorded this beautiful new album in six days, most of the songs completed in 3 takes or less.

Spending the last two years relentlessly touring America, the band was able to enter the studio and successfully record their new album live with minimal overdubs. There was no auto-tuning or drum quantizing, and three part harmonies were sung into one microphone. What the band created was a sonically tight collection of interweaving doo-wop vocal melodies and early pop rock that highlights the band's exceptional songwriting and forceful performances.

The band is excited to offer fans their effervescent new song "Forever and Ever" for free download (approved to embed): http://soundcloud.com/thewandas/02-forever-and-ever

The Wandas headed to MixArt Studios [The Stills, Arcade Fire] in Montreal, Canada to work with long-time fan and producer Patrick Krief [guitarist and co-writer of The Dears.] After hearing a couple of the band's demos, industry veteran Dave Schiffman [Tom Petty and Johnny Cash] enthusiastically came in to mix the album. Employing a collaborative recording process, members of The Stills, Stars and The Dears joined the sessions and are now a part of this infectious new album.

The Wandas plan on spending all of 2011 on the road. Stay tuned for more details.
