(Gibson) Beatles legend Paul McCartney was the latest music superstar – following Michael Stipe and Elton John – to help wake up the crew of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. The NASA shuttle is on its final mission.McCartney played a clip of him and his band performing The Beatles classic "Good Day Sunshine" and then said, "Good morning, guys – wake up! And good luck on this, your last mission. Well done!"
It's far from the first time that the Fab Four's tunes have been beamed into outer space. "Good Day Sunshine" has been sent out three times, including once directly from a McCartney concert. Other songs, including "Birthday," "With a Little Help from My Friends" and "A Hard Day's Night" have also made their way off the planet.
