Singled Out: Aziatix's Cold

07/15/2011
.
Today Aziatix tells us about their brand new single "Cold" from their self-titled EP. Here is the story:

"Cold" is a follow up to our first single "GO". Like most songs on our albums, the song just came about very naturally. Eddie one day came to me with a set of chords and a synth riff of a song idea he had in his head. We just sat down at the studio and laid down a basic dance beat and started writing melody lines over the chords. We wanted to sort of bring back the throwback feel of the 80s mixing old school beat with a simple, straight to the point hook melody and of course fusing it with some current sounds.

The B part of the song definitely brings back the elements of the 80s with a very ominous bass line a la "Human League", "ABC", etc. The funny thing is...when people hear the song in Asia they say it sounds very "Western"...and when people hear it in the US they say it has a very "Asian" sound. Perhaps, that's the sound that we are best known for since we grew up knowing both cultures very well.

We were also very fortunate to collaborate with some great world renowned DJs for our remixes for this song...namely "FRAKTAL" and the "Outfielders." They were able to give this song a whole new life.

FRAKTAL who is well known for producing electro/lounge/house music in Sweden was able to fuse future jazz and dub house elements to the song. Outfielders gave the song a whole new twist for the clubs taking a electro/techno approach. Both versions give the song "COLD" a whole new vibe for the clubs. We hope to hear these remixes in the clubs out there very soon!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you check out the video right here!
