Weezer Announce Their Very Own Cruise

07/13/2011
.
Some more big news out of the Weezer camp today. The band has announced their very first Weezer Cruise. Here's the official details with some nice special guests:

Taking to the ocean January 19-23, 2012, The Weezer Cruise is a music festival-at-sea curated by Weezer on the Carnival Destiny sailing from Miami to the island of Cozumel, off the coast of Mexico. Along with Weezer and 2,500 passengers, The Weezer Cruise will feature fifteen bands performing shows around the ship through the day and night, festival-style. Weezer will perform on the pool deck as the ship pulls out and then again in the indoor main theater.

In addition to Weezer, there will be performances from Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Gene Ween and Dave Dreiwitz, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck, Free Energy, Boom Bip, J. Mascis, Lou Barlow, Keepaway, Ozma, The Nervous Wreckords, The Knocks, Sleeper Agent, and Yacht Rock Review.

Between the many shows taking place on the four stages around the ship, fans will participate in games and activities, swim in the ship's pool, play a few rounds of bingo, or order from the 24-hour room service menu. After a day-and-a-half at sea, guests can spend their Saturday soaking up the sun on Cozumel's beaches before returning to the Caribbean for more rock and roll.

For this inaugural experience, Weezer has partnered with the industry leader in theme cruises, Sixthman. Prices start at $799 per person for double cabins, or four people can sail together for just $599 per person. Fans can sign up for the pre-sale and watch a video announcement from the band at www.theweezercruise.com. Sixthman will open pre-sale bookings on July 21 and cabins will go on sale to the general public on August 3.
