Today music legend Martha Wash (who has had no.1 hits like "It's Raining Men," "Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)," and "Carry On") tells us about her brand new song "I've Got You". Here is the story: I've learned a lot through the years about standing up for yourself. When C&C Music Factory used my voice and another woman for their video in 1990's "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" I learned to speak up, be strong. I use my voice to really say something and to take control over my situation and my career. But sometimes, you can't do it all aloneand this is what I've Got You is really all about.
Everybody is going through somethingno matter the size of the problem it can seem tremendous to whoever it's affecting. We all need someone who will stand with us and say, "I know what you're going through, it's ok, I've Got You." We need someone in our lives that will help us and lets us know that they will be by our side.
Moving from my dance roots for this song was exciting. I want to feel something when I hear somebody sing to meI want to really feel something. I could dance all over the room if I wanted to, but when my soul needs satisfaction, I want to hear somebody that is going to move me.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video right here!
