Rostrum/Atlantic have set a March 29th release date for Wiz Khalifa debut album, "Rolling Papers." The most-buzzed about rapper's major-label debut arrives in stores and at all online retailers on. "Rolling Papers" sees production from top producers including Benny Blanco ("California Gurls," "Dynamite,") Jim Jonsin ("Whatever You Like," "Lollipop,") and Stargate, who produced Khalifa's smash, "Black & Yellow." The official second single off "ROLLING PAPERS," titled, "Roll Up," ships to mixshows this Friday, January 28th and drops everywhere this Monday, January 31st.
On one of the many concepts behind naming the album, "Rolling Papers," the Pittsburgh native says, "I quit writing a long time ago. I stopped physically writing it down or putting it in my BlackBerry or iPhone. I write notes down, but I don't write whole verses, so it was like saying goodbye to the paper. The paper's rolling out too. So everything is real natural. The first thing that came to my head is how I really, really feel. I feel like this is my most natural sound. I paid the most attention to this s*** when I did it. I was real focused. I was real keyed in on this s*** when I was working on it and I didn't use any paper, except for rolling papers."
What's more, "Rolling Papers" is also being ushered by the buzz track "On My Level (feat. Too Short)." The video-only track was produced by Jim Jonsin and was shot earlier this month in Los Angeles. The video for "On My Level" can be seen at www.wizkhalifa.com beginning at 6pm ET tomorrow, January 27th. In addition to his debut album, the beginning of 2011 will also see Wiz making his national late night television debut on tonight's Lopez Tonight (check local listings.) All of this comes on the heels of Wiz's epic game-opening performance of "Black and Yellow" at Sunday's AFC Championship game, which saw his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers facing off against the New York Jets.
