Strokes Talk Heavy New Album
01/26/2011
.
(Gibson) Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture says that the title of his band's new album, Angles, is representative of the process that went into making the record. Fraiture told Spin.com that the name "reflects the way the album was made. It's all about the different approach and the different ways these songs came out."Angles breaks new ground for the band, which had previously relied on frontman Julian Casablancas to generate ideas for tunes. This time, each of the five members (Casablancas, Fraiture, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., guitarist Nick Valensi and drummer Fabrizio Moretti) brought in ideas, often working without Casablancas until the instrumental track was done. "We wrote and rehearsed together as the four of us," Fraiture said. "Then we'd send the track over to Julian. There was a lot of back and forth. I don't know if Julian had trouble being with us – I don't know what was going through his mind. There were tensions. But it worked." more including tracklist
