Sonic Youth Release Mixtape

(Gibson) Sonic Youth have released a free-to-stream mixtape for fans on the band's website. The streaming audio – complete with old-school cassette graphics – features unreleased tracks from the band's upcoming Simon Werner a Disparu soundtrack album, as well as an acoustic version of "Star Power" from the TV show Gossip Girl, Daydream Nation demos and other rarities. Frontman Thurston Moore has had a public love affair with cassettes for years, and even edited the book, Mix Tape: The Art of Cassette Culture.
