(Gibson) On this day in 2003, a former member of Jethro Tull made just about the biggest life change possible. Following a successful sex change operation, Dave Palmer became Dee Palmer. Although the musician had changed names a few years earlier, the operation made the switch official.Dee was soon outed by the British tabloids, but has maintained an openness about her sex change ever since. Former bandmate, and Tull frontman, Ian Anderson released a statement, acknowledging the shocking news, but also encouraging acceptance. "I have known for the past two years of David Palmer's intention to undergo gender-changing procedures and, like many other people who have known David for three decades as a bearded, pipe-smoking man's man, I found it difficult to understand at first," Anderson wrote. "But I fully support his decision to undertake a new life as a woman. more on this story
