John Legend On The Artist Toolbox

.
PBS has launched a new series called "The Artist Toolbox." This interview series is an in-depth conversation with many of the world's masters of Art. John Legend will be featured this week and next (check local listings at www.theartisttoolbox.com), where he opens up to host John Jacobsen about how he became successful. "You have to have that drive
that desire to be a better artist." Unlike any other show on television right now, this show celebrates the arts while introducing fans to some of the most gifted and talented artists in the world. With so much mindless reality programming taking over television, The Artist Toolbox is a true celebration of what the arts are all about. PBS has been accused in recent years of relinquishing their commitment to the arts, and this show is an example of a major return to that focus. Season 1 Artists: This season, THE ARTIST TOOLBOX focuses on such inspiring creative masters as the pop/classical crossover violinist David Garrett; the most widely-read Spanish language author in the world, Isabel Allende; Grammy-winning R&B marvel John Legend; two of the greatest designers working in fashion today, Isabel and Ruben Toledo; acclaimed actor Tom Skerritt; Malaysian-born and knighted haute couture designer Zang Toi; the leading African-American abstract artist Sam Gilliam; master graphic designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli; one of the top 50 architects in the world, modernist Hugh Newell Jacobsen; the elegant Russian-born American Ballet Theatre principals Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Beloserkovsky; one of the very few Michelin-starred chefs in America, Daniel Boulud; legendary jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis; and award-winning stage and television actor Jason Alexander.
