Another Band Drops Rick Rubin

(Gibson) Hot Hot Heat are no longer working with legendary producer Rick Rubin, frontman Steve Bays told Undercover: "We started a record with Rick Rubin and we let him go because it didn't really work."I don't want to say we fired him, I mean I'm sure he could have fired us, too. I like the idea of doing the album ourselves just 'cause it's more fun and you can get a bit weirder," Bays said. "We're still [expletive] when we need to be [expletive], but for the most part, when a producer says 'Maybe you should try this,' you just give him the benefit of the doubt, or you give her the benefit of the doubt, whereas it was nice to have that extra level of not having to worry about somebody's feelings." Hot Hot Heat are the second band to party ways with Rubin this week. Crosby, Stills and Nash recently announced that they were no longer working with Rubin on their covers album. more on this story
