Queens of the Stone Age Early Songs Inspiring New Album

(Gibson) Josh Homme has said playing the first Queens of the Stone Age album in concert has inspired much of the band's recent recording work. The singer-guitarist said that QOTSA's 1998 debut, which is being re-released on March 1, reminded him of what he loves to do."We had these obligations because I was re-releasing the first record, going to Australia and doing some other stuff," he told Exclaim.ca. "And we started trying to play the first record note-perfect. And, honestly, that started to re-inspire me. It just took me back for a second where I had a chance to remember where I was when I first started doing this." The band recently announced a short U.S. tour, beginning March 18. But fans shouldn't expect QOTSA's live dates to hinder their recording process. "We've already started to write," Homme said. "The first record rehearsals are starting to sort of be like gravy over the top of what we're doing. It's sort of permeating what we're doing now." more on this story
