(Gibson) Hot on the heels of a "deluxe" treatment for their Down to Earth album, Rainbow are releasing an expanded version of what is largely regarded as their greatest work, Rainbow Rising (or just, Rising). The 1976 set found Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio at their creative peak, backed by the high-octane band of drummer Cozy Powell, bassist Jimmy Bain and keyboardist Tony Carey. The album featured such classic tracks as "Stargazer," "Starstruck" and "Light in the Black." Now, that set has been expanded in a hard rock fan dream package. Rainbow Rising Deluxe Edition will feature multiple mixes and alternate recordings of all of the album's original six songs, plus live tracks as well, including "Man on the Silver Mountain," from the band's first album. The two-disc set will be released in the U.K. on February 28 and in North America on March 8. more on this story
