(Gibson) The self-titled debut album by Hurtsmile featuring Gary Cherone of Extreme (and a better-live-than-on-record turn with Van Halen) on vocals will be released on February 8 in the U.S.The album was released on January 21 in Europe. Hurtsmile is a family affair. In addition to Gary Cherone, Hurtsmile features his brother Mark on guitars, Joe Pessia (Nuno Bettencourt's Dramagods, Tantric) on bass and mandolin, and Dana Spellman (a student of Mike Mangini, onetime member of Extreme and Cherone's previous band Tribe of Judah) on drums and percussion. "Hurtsmile was a long time coming
I always wanted to write a record with my brother," Gary says. "I'm a big fan of Mark's songwriting and his snarling guitar riffs. Hurtsmile was about returning to my roots, writing a record in my basement, a straight-up rock 'n' roll record
but it turned out to be more diverse and ambitious than I expected." more on this story
