(Gibson) Director Cameron Crowe has told Rolling Stone that his upcoming Pearl Jam documentary will debut later this year. The Seattle band have given Crowe 18-20 hours of rare footage to combine with new material shot in 2009 and 2010.Crowe said the idea for the film was, "How do we do The Kids Are Alright of Pearl Jam, and sonic blast the best stuff?" Crowe added that the band are "not prone to opening the curtain
and that is the challenge and delight of it."
Crowe also recently directed an Elton John/Leon Russell documentary called The Union, saying that John treated the cameras "like a buddy." Pearl Jam Twenty, he says, is the complete opposite. Crowe calls the footage "the best souvenirs of (Pearl Jam's) past," but when it came to putting the story together, he said it was "The Union turned inside out." more on this story
