On this date in 1974, The New York Dolls split up. The influential American band formed in 1972 and made just two albums, 1973's New York Dolls and 1974's Too Much Too Soon. On this date in 1988, Guns N' Roses started a two week run at #1 on the U.S. singles chart with "Sweet Child O' Mine," the group's first US #1.
